Growing up, Jason spent summers in his father's wine shop in Laguna Beach, CA where he developed a love of French cheeses, maps and wine labels while learning how to carry spit buckets. Apparently the virus set, for after returning from living overseas and a short corporate stint, Jason delved back into retail wine sales, working briefly at Hi Time Wine Cellars in Costa Mesa, then Bristol Farms and eventually at The Wine Room, a small, high end boutique wine seller in Irvine, CA. It was there that he met Mac Myers when Mac came in to sell the first vintage of Barrel 27. Thrilled with the quality and price, Jason sold almost the entire production in a few weeks and in process discovered that he and Mac shared a similar passion for wines of the Rhone Valley and Rhone varietals in general, not to mention Champagne. The friendship cemented, Mac approached Jason a year and half later as Barrel 27 was rapidly expanding with an offer to come on board and help manage the growth.
